Sabahans will
receive equal assistance, regardless of race, from the government if Pakatan
Rakyat (PR) wins the 13th general election.PR leader Datuk
Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this during a friendly ceremony with the people at
Kampung Panji here yesterday.
Anwar in his speech
said PKR wanted to defeat Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election. He said if he led
the country, he would want a clean government without corruption, not
practising dirty politics, injustice, and abuse of power.
He also pledged
that if PR won in the coming election, he would reduce the oil price for the
sake of the people, reduce the prices of goods and give free education to all.
“The assistance
given in Budget 2013, such as BR1M, is an unhealthy programme undertaken by BN
because if they win the general election, they will increase taxes and prices
of goods to spin back the money.
“If I become the
Prime Minister, I’ll reduce the oil price, and I believe the country will not
go bankrupt if prices are reduced as the government under my leadership will
not practise dirty leadership,” he said.
Anwar said a
collaboration between Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and PR will provide
opportunities to each other to compete in any parliamentary or assembly seats.
For example, he said if SAPP competed in Lahad Datu area, PR would give
the opportunity to them and would not compete in the area, likewise SAPP.
Sabah PKR chief
Ahmad Tamrin Jaini, who was also present at the event, said he was confident
that PR would win in the 13th general election and defeat BN on condition that
the people must be brave to change. He said the Orange Book was for the Sabah
people.
He also hoped
Sabahans would not provide any opportunities to BN in the general election.
Also present were
Pakatan Perubahan Sabah (PPS) leader Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Lajim Haji Ukin,
Tawau member of parliament Datuk Chua Soon Bui, chairman of Silam DAP Tajuldin
A.R, SAPP chairman Silam Zone Shuaib Mutalib, and several other opposition
leaders.
